I Present to YouAfter officially entering my contract with the Chair of General and Experimental Psychology at the LMU for my doctorate's degree, I think it's time to publish my diploma thesis on my web site. (A small information for all the British readers: diploma here in Germany doesn't mean the same as it does in GB. This piece of work is equivalent to a master thesis (and yes, obviously some British looked funny at me when I first mentioned I'd be doing my diploma).) So, without further ado I present to you my work (well, it's attached to this blog entry, so technically I already presented it to you, but anyhow). The part that is possibly most interesting to informaticians is the general weighting model. This model defines a system of wheights which finally culminated in a C++ class. The source code is also attached to this post. The weighting system class consists of a central weighting system and different weight classes. The documentation for it can be found in the thesis itself and there will not be any changes to the code whatsoever. The applications are manifold, but this implementation tends to be too much of a proof of concept. So I won't be advancing this library any further. On the other hand, since I recently bought (finally!) the great book Design Patterns by Gamma, Helm, Johnson and Vlissides and I wanted to apply some of these patterns to the model to create a more usable C++ class. I will write about it here when it's done, but recently there are too many other things to do. Cheers!
